THE CALL INWARD
A journey begins
BETWEEN WORLDS
The Roots
My earliest memories take me back to the red deserts of the USA. The earth — so warm and alive — and the endless plateaus felt like nature’s embrace. My mother carried me in a sling as we hiked outdoors. The vastness and the silence shaped me. And then life changed. We returned to Switzerland, only to cross the Atlantic again later on. This back and forth — between home and foreignness — gave me trust in change.
GIVING SPACE TO WHAT’S HIDDEN
Learning to listen
As a child, I felt like a magnet for other people’s stories. Children came to me, sharing secrets they told no one else. Even then, I sensed that listening isn’t only an act of hearing — it creates a space where the unseen can breathe.
Listening is the space where the unspeakable can breathe.
BREAKING APART AND BEGINNING AGAIN
The storms of youth
At sixteen, I finished school and began a commercial apprenticeship. But the world I found myself in felt cold and empty. I was disoriented and developed destructive patterns to cope with emotional pain. I dreamed of studying social work — a wish that had lived in me since I was thirteen. But back then, that dream felt far away. Something in me wanted to leave.
A year in Latin America opened new perspectives. The warmth of the people and the different kind of encounters showed me a new way. Back in Switzerland, I began to make my dream of studying social work real. In that time, my mind turned into a sponge — absorbing everything.
THE POWER OF LOVE
A rock in the surf
Marco came into my life. His calm and strength touched me. He was like a rock in the surf as I learned to find my own course. He didn’t shy away from my energy. His love taught me that strength can mean walking through life with another human being.
A MONASTERY AND SILENCE
A moment of recognition
At Thich Nhat Hanh’s monastery, I experienced something that has stayed with me ever since. In the silence of the temple, the noise of busyness fell away. For the first time, I truly understood what it means to simply be. That experience gave me a grounding that carried me through the greatest challenges of my life. It was as if the world paused for a moment to tell me: you are safe here.
Sometimes silence says more than a thousand words.
THE BIRTH
A calling becomes alive
After the death of a loved one, I felt an emptiness that seemed impossible to fill. A vast emptiness that swallowed everything. And yet, from it, a new strength emerged. I founded my own practice, brought a website to life that connected me with friends. And I became a mother. The birth of my son felt like a new beginning.
THE BREATH AS A KEY
Where science meets spirituality
Through breathwork, a new world opened. I found tools that touched not only me, but others at the deepest level. It felt like a bridge between science and spirituality — two worlds that come together as one in my work.
FINDING ROOTS
The power of community
After years of travelling, I finally found roots in a light-filled home in Switzerland. This home is more than a place. It is a space where I find stability, experience community, and feel again and again how strong rootedness can make us.
A SPACE FOR TRANSFORMATION
The wisdom of the body
Today, I create spaces where you are allowed to be who you are. Spaces where everything may arise that wants to be seen and released. My work is an invitation to find yourself.
The body plays a central role in these spaces. Through my own journey, I learned that our body carries the stories our mind has forgotten. It is a mirror, an archive, and a teacher.
In my work, the body is a guide to deeper understanding. Mindful touch, movement, and breathwork help to explore and release these stories.
You can find more about the methods I work with — and how we can experience transformation together — on my page “Work with me.” My aim is that you reconnect with your own inner strength.

Professional Background – Regula Badertscher
I am a holistic psychotherapist (USA) and a psychological counsellor (CH), with a focus on somatic therapy, breathwork, and mindfulness-based methods. For many years, I have supported people through profound processes of change — with an integrative approach that connects body, mind, and soul, and places my clients’ inner resources at the centre.
Professional path
Since 2017, I have worked in my own private practice in the USA, and since 2022 also in Switzerland. I support individuals and couples through personal, emotional, and relational development processes.
In addition to my private practice, I have been working since 2019 as an independent psychotherapist for Cornerstone Therapy and Recovery Services in St. Paul, Minnesota — with a particular focus on trauma therapy in the context of addiction.
My professional experience also includes several years at the Family Enhancement Center (2013–2018), where I provided individual, family, and trauma counselling as well as crisis intervention, and contributed to the development of treatment concepts. Close collaboration with child protection services, along with extensive diagnostic and treatment work, was especially formative during this time. In parallel, I conducted qualitative and quantitative research projects for the organisation.
As a Match Coordinator at Big Brothers Big Sisters (2012–2014), I was responsible for supporting children, adolescents, families, and mentors within the international mentoring programme.
Early on, I also took on project leadership — including as project lead for the neighbourhood development project Selewie in Herisau (2010–2011), with a focus on improving both perceived and public safety.
Further stages of my professional journey include work in social services, research, residential youth care, and therapeutic shared living communities (2002–2010). My first professional years were in the commercial sector.
Formative experiences & character development
Key impulses came through my semester abroad in Stockholm (2010), as well as a longer language and social placement in Seville and Honduras (2001–2002). Especially formative was a retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh (2013), which deeply anchored my work in mindfulness, presence, and the integration of Eastern psychology with Western trauma therapy.
Further training
My therapeutic work is grounded in broad, ongoing training in body-oriented, trauma-informed, and holistic methods:
- PBSP – Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor (completed training, certified therapist, 2014–2025)
- Sensorimotor Psychotherapy – Advanced Trauma Training (2014–2016)
- Rebirthing Breathwork (2020–2021)
- Breathwork with Dr. Sue Morter (2022–2023)
- Colourpuncture according to Peter Mandel (2017–2018)
- Introduction to Psychedelics – Numinus Online Course (2024–2025)
My work is guided by the most up-to-date trauma-informed approaches and integrates somatic, energetic, and breath-based methods.
Education
The foundation of my professional path is a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Social Work.
